ok, friend, you are getting a VOICENOTE. But, for PSA:
Anything you want to read to them when they are pre 3 months tbh, but those rustly baby newspapers are comedy / sensory gold
Noisy Crow “Where is” books for after that - and board books in general (my two year old still goes for a board book first) - those with felt flaps are more resilient
Peck Peck Peck by Lucy Cousins. Pleasing on so many levels
It’s a deep cut but Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak sent my kid to sleep for approx 9 months.
Peepo / Baby Catalogue / Each Peach Pear Plum (for when they’re a bit bigger; 12-18 months) [[We still read Peepo every night, on demand. It has been this way for nine months]]
Some people go house of Julia Donaldson; I do love the Gruffalo but the Fox’s Socks series has pleasing rhyme and seems to be a good shout
I avoid those “That’s not my” books like the plague but kids do seem to enjoy them
General sidenote that book versions of popular baby tv series are always dire.
The best answer is Chris Haughton board books... so many phrases have been incorporated into our family-lexicon. "Shh, we have a plan..." We read them for years.
More children’s books recos please! Especially for young babies…

THANK YOU! This is absolute gold. I’ve already got one of those crinkly newspapers, they are genius!
I thought those ‘that’s not my’ books looked dull… shall avoid.
So much to choose from so it’s super helpful to have a curated list ❤️
So so dull, do not even pick them up.

Thank you, I’ll investigate!
